I just left 5th Gear. I never thought a car repair would be such a great start to my day! My check engine light on my 05 Expy came on this weekend. I was totally stressed, because I keep thinking it's just a matter of time before Dorothy is ready for the junkyard. I did a little research based on the symptoms and suspected a coil pack. I also learned that I might be able to pull off this repair myself. The Napa guy confirmed a misfire most likely due to a coil, but unfortunately it was in one of the harder to access cylinders, otherwise he said I could have managed this repair. My auto shop couldn't get me in until Thursday, quoted me what seemed to be pretty high for a quick & simple repair, plus a crazy high price on the part. I remember googling auto repair shops one time and reading good reviews about 5th Gear. I asked the Napa guy about them, and he immediately and enthusiastically backed up their great Google reviews reputation. I called 5th Gear from the Napa store, told Cameron the story and he agreed to use my probable diagnosis & part I bought at Napa. The auto shop I have been using would not have done that. Of course I understood when he told me that if it wasn't the right fix, that was not their fault, but as a single mom on a very tight budget, I needed to attack this from the most affordable angle. Cameron said come on over, took me in immediately and had the car repaired in less than an hour at a very fair price! AND it seems to have fixed the problem! (Go, me! 😁) Cameron was very helpful, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. My bet is that everyone else at 5th Gear is too!! Honestly, I have been going to a very reputable auto repair shop for a few years now, but they are impossible to get into on short notice, and I have had reservations about their prices and markup on parts. I was willing to pay, because I felt they were knowledgeable & trustworthy, but I simply don't have the luxury of overpaying if I can find equally fine if not better service for less. I'll be taking my auto repair & maintenance needs to 5th gear from now on. Thank you so much, Cameron, for making this day a positive one!! You represented 5th Gear well and won them a new long term customer. As well as another one, because I just hung up the phone from referring a friend to 5th Gear. ☺
Thanks for all the kind words Bobbi! We try our best. 😆
