I'm extremely happy with the work that 5th Gear did for me on my Jeep. I left it with them over a two-week period when I wouldn't need it, so there wasn't any discussion about pickup times or anything like that so I can't comment on that front, but the service was amazing, and they were very responsive both through phone and e-mail. The pricing was fair, and I brought the car in knowing many of the concerns it had already. They confirmed what I knew to be true and were very straightforward. The car drives like a dream, it's been a few days now and I am extremely happy with it. Thank you very much 5th Gear!!

Very nice local shop, extremely honest about what needs to be done, have taken my Land Cruiser here as well as my wife's Honda. Fair prices and prompt work. Normally you will need an appointment, no problem, as their work is in high demand.

This shop is great! As a female (usually) finding a good reputable place to service your car is a difficult and intimidating task. These guys are great and so friendly. They even have a sweet shop dog named "Gracie"! I would highly recommend 5th Gear Auto for all you vehicle maintenance needs! Thanks guys for the A++ service!

I'll add my 5 star review to all the others. Over the past few years they have worked on 3 of my cars and I have always been satisfied with their work. Honest, fair, reasonably priced, timely and they do quality work. This is a great alternative to the local stealerships when you need your car repaired.

I can't say enough good things about them. Found this shop when looking for a place to get the emissions tests done on my diesel cars that didn't overcharge. Not sure why Air Care Colorado shops don't test diesels when there are so many diesels running around now. 5th Gear is less expensive than the only place in Boulder for emissions testing, and not as far away as the other places I used to go to. If a car doesn't pass emissions, the 5th Gear mechanics can do what's needed to get it to pass, not that I've needed their help on this. I maintain my cars religiously, since I want them to last to at least 200K miles. I've been back to 5th Gear a few times for alignments, oil changes, checkups and routine maintenance. As a 50+ woman who knows a lot about my cars (always a smart thing no matter your age or gender), I've found dealing with the guys here a real breath of fresh air! They are friendly, honest, explain anything I don't quite understand (which is very rare), very reasonable on pricing, fairly easy to schedule with, send texts to keep me informed of appointments and progress, and don't mind if you bring in your own parts (I have to save $$ when I can). I turned my daughter on to 5th Gear too. Her VW Jetta needed an alignment after hitting so many pot holes last winter. I bought some new all season tires for her car, and while driving it around with her, I realized it was very out of alignment. 5th Gear matched a coupon deal from another shop, since she was a first time client. They also checked out her other concerns (some odd noise I couldn't hear), but found nothing to worry about and didn't charge extra for the checkup, which was great since she's presently unemployed and flat broke. Love the big dog who greets all the clients. Their waiting room is the best I've ever seen at any independent auto shop. There's a good flat screen TV, a comfy couple of sofas, and free WiFi. Good cell service too. It's cleaner than most shops I've been to. They really care about their reputation and their shop's conditions. Sure, by the end of the day the actual workshop area is dirty, but the front area, what the customers mostly see is kept very clean. My only complaints are: 1. The location is not so easy to find and Google Maps had me take some strange route that got me lost; 2. It's a bit of drive from N. Boulder, but well worth it to get such great service; 3. There's no place within walking distance to get some food, so bring it with you if you plan to wait. 4. They've gotten such great reviews that getting in for repairs is getting more difficult. None of my complaints equate to fewer than 5 stars though. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

If you want an honest and hard working shop 5th Gear is where to go. They have been working on my cars for over a year now. My whole family uses them as well. Dennis and Tris are some of the most friendly people I have met. They never brush me off even though I'm a girl, and always listen to all my concerns. (I am very picky about my cars and know when something is just not right.) Here are a couple of examples of how they go above and beyond. A couple of months ago my dad's van died in the middle of the road. We had it towed to 5th Gear. He works nights so we had them call me to go over the van. They called the next morning to quote me a price on figuring out the problem. Later that day they called back to say they pretty much found the problem right away. In the end there was no point in trying to save the van, so the helped with junking it. They charged us a fraction of the quote even though they could of let us believe it took hours to look over. I needed the brakes done on my dodge ram 1500. I am sad to say I took it to a different shop first, simply because they were closer to where I live. They quoted me $800. When I explained that I wanted to get a second quote and would be by later to get my truck, they were rude and explain my truck was unsafe to drive. I brought it to 5th Gear along with a copy of the first quote. They told me what actually needed to be done, and what didn't. They did the job for less than $200 and my truck is driving beautifully. I won't be making the same mistake twice, they may be a bit far but it is well worth the drive.

Really good experience at this shop. Before coming here, I would always take our 4Runner to the dealership. But when the dealership was booked up for the foreseeable future, I gave this place a shot. From now on, we'll call 5th Gear first and our dealership second. Fantastic customer service. Service with a smile. Just a great experience.

Dennis at 5th Gear helped me work on a radiator hose leak, literally. The shop was busy and the next available appointment wasn't until next Tuesday. Instead of just turning me away, he grabbed some tools and a flashlight, crawled under the car in the parking lot, and fixed it right there and then! No charge..and a pleasant "have a great day" to boot. Rockstar. Shop looked clean and professional too, so I'll be back.

The best mechanics I have eve dealt with. They are honest and do not try to sell you on repairs you don't need. I will not go anywhere else for service.

I had been looking for a good mechanic for quite some time. I found this shop after looking on yelp and google. I brought in my 2001 Audi TT Roadster and the experience was awesome. Tris at 5th Gear accommodated my schedule, gave me a run through of everything that was found during the inspection and never made me feel like I was being taken advantage of. They even picked me up from work so that I could get my car when it was finished. I'll definitely be bringing my cars to 5th gear from now on. Thanks!
