Fifth Gear Automotive, Inc. is owned and operated by Eric Gibson, who purchased the business in January 2017 from Andy Eberstadt who started 5th Gear in 1982 in a small 3 bay shop located in Northglenn.

After relocating his shop several times to grow with his increasing customer base, Andy decided to locate 5th Gear Automotive in his totally new from-the-ground-up auto service structure in early 2001. Andy's passion has always been to serve vehicle owners who value quality and integrity. His business philosophy is founded on the principles of honest pay for honest work.

After 35+ years of building 5th Gear to what it is today, Andy Eberstadt was ready to retire. Andy didn't want to sell the business to just anybody, so he interview prospective buyers to make sure they were going to be a good fit. After all, this is his legacy. Andy and Eric hit it off right away, having the same vision and integrity of how an honest auto repair shop should treat their customers.

Eric Has 25+ years in the auto repair industry. At the age of 16 he was doing side jobs out of his parents garage to help pay for his first car, a 1966 VW Bug. He worked at a couple of local shops before his most recent job as a fleet mechanic for a major utility in CA. There he quickly found his nitch and was soon the lead diesel mechanic for their major repair facility. After nearly 20 years there, he and his family wanted to get closer to family in the Broomfield area. It has always been Eric's dream to have his own shop, and with Andy retiring soon, the timing couldn't have been better. And well, the rest is history!
